Synopsis
Guko, a timid young Buddhist monk traveling across ancient Japan in search of his vanished master, arrives in a frightened village besieged by a terrifying man-eating beast known as the Hitokui. After encountering a playful local guardian deity at an abandoned temple, Guko discovers that the monster devouring villagers is linked to the fate of his lost master, forcing the cowardly traveler to take up a sword and confront the demon.
